Moving on a budget is a challenge, but even when you're going to the other side of the country there are plenty of ways to save money. Declutter your life by getting rid of as many of your possessions as possible. It will save you money no matter which transportation method you pick. Plan out your trip in advance as much as possible, then take a well-earned break to enjoy your new environment once you have arrived.

    Clean your home to sort your possessions. Do a little spring cleaning. This gives you an opportunity to sort through all the things you own. It will be more than you expect, so take an inventory. Try to sort your possessions into groups of necessities, things you would like to save, and things you're willing to discard.[1]

Additionally, you'll be able to easily fly to your new city. It may not cost that much more to get your things moved than it would if you moved them yourself.
